Network Function Virtualization (NFV) is poised to transform how the networks of tomorrow are designed, deployed and managed across Telco, Enterprise and Cloud. Open Ecosystem Collaboration - A PoC Presentation

This session will present the deterministic placement of VNFs using an intelligent NFV orchestrator that can digest standard information models describing the underlying infrastructure and VNF capabilities to deliver carrier-grade services. The resulting Enhanced Platform Awareness (EPA) capability allows an NFV orchestration platform to intelligently deploy VNF workloads onto the underlying infrastructure, enabling the optimal performance, efficient use of resources and adherence to certain performance SLAs.

The demonstration provides two separate deployment environments for comparing an NFV-optimized and an un-optimized cloud-based deployment:

  • An NFV-ready infrastructure with advanced VNF deployment.
  • A standard cloud infrastructure - vanilla cloud computing - without using the enhanced information model.
