NFVI

NFVI

NFV Infrastructure (NFVi) is a key component of the NFV architecture that describes the hardware and software components on which virtual networks are built. In doing so the NFVi layer provides the actual physical resources and corresponding software on which VNFs can be deployed. NFVi creates a virtualization layer that sits right above the hardware and abstracts the HW resources, so they can be logically partitioned and provided to the VNF to perform their functions.

NFV Security

NFV Security

Security in communication service provider networks is always of paramount importance and no more so in a virtualized network infrastructure. The complexities of a virtualized world require new thinking around how NFV security measures should be deployed.

Intel's NFV Security Strategy - A foundation of trust and a secure formula

Intel's NFV Security Strategy - A foundation of trust and a secure formula

The business principles are clearly understood and virtualizing the network on open standards is and will happen. However the challenges and risks remain that without a strong security posture and robust infrastructure the motivation to fully embrace this will diminish. Intel created a foundation of trust with key technologies build into our products that create a hardened and trusted compute model that the ecosystem delivers to realize the goals of a secure NVF platform. In this session Intel will explain how this is achieved.

Cloud Native

Cloud Native

Cloud Native is an approach that uses an open source software stack to deploy applications as micro services. Each micro service is packaged into its own container and those same containers are then ‘dynamically orchestrated’ in order to ‘optimise resource utilisation’, which provides a controllable, flexible, scalable and composable cloud model, which enables service offerings to be brought to market quicker.

Introduction of Intel Container Bare Metal Experience Kits

Introduction of Intel Container Bare Metal Experience Kits

Containers and Kubernetes, as the Orchestration system, are being considered by Communication Service Providers for next-gen cloud-based network deployments. While these technologies have been around and deployed for years now, more needs to be done in order to allow managed, performant and predictable service delivery, as required by Communication Service Providers. Intel has been working with partners and with open source communities to address those requirements and to deliver consumable capabilities concerning configuration, performance and service-assurance. Through this presentations you will learn about the Container Bare Metal Experience Kits, a library of best practice deployment guidelines, explaining the value of the newly introduced capabilities and enabling adoption for Container-bare-metal deployments.

Telekom Austria's Vision of the Cloud Native Operator

Telekom Austria's Vision of the Cloud Native Operator

In this presentation Telekom Austria will discuss its vision of the "Future Operator Stack" as it shall apply for a Telco Operator moving to NFV and SDN. The presentation will shortly introduce the principles and argue why it is that important to actually achieve an implementation that is following those principles in a strict manner. It will then move on to present the Future Operator Stack and explore its working in various situations. There will be deviations from the behavior that is nowadays specified in some recommended approaches and it will be argued why those differences are advantageous and how they will help an Cloud Native Operator to succeed. The presentation will at times connect with the actual status of the work in Telekom Austria Group to provide some proof points that TAG is actually following its vision. In summary the challenges that the industry is facing are presented and the audience will be left with questions that shall help considering whether the industry is on the right track currently.
