Lead the way - CoSPs expectations/gaps from the NFV/SDN industry today - Telecom Infra Project Update

Lead the way - CoSPs expectations/gaps from the NFV/SDN industry today - Telecom Infra Project Update

The exponential Internet traffic growth is still one of the main challenges for the Telco industry. In the past, Moore’s Law has helped us to keep our production cost for the exponentially growing traffic under control. With Moore’s Law flattening out, we see a strong trend in the industry towards the disaggregation of hardware and software. From monolithic black-box solutions, we are moving towards a modular, best-in-class, flexible and open ecosystem, including an automated lifecycle management in true DevOps style. None of the Telcos can do this on their own – the success of this industry depends on collaboration. SK Telecom, Facebook, Nokia, Intel and Deutsche Telekom launched the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) at MWC. The session will cover the progress and major delivieries we have achieved in TIP.

Panel: Putting NFV Into Production with Ease

When CommSPs foster an open environment, it is easier to identify the solutions that simplify and accelerate NFV production deployments. The advantages of using flexible, openly architected hardware and software may be some of the solutions to the challenges that arise in the industry. How will the NFV community face the gaps and expectations that CommSPs bring to the table in 2019?

On the journey towards 5G and edge driven environment

On the journey towards 5G and edge driven environment

Edge computing is the placement of data center or network-class compute and storage resources away from centralized hubs and closer to the consumer of these resources to optimize user experiences, TCO, and comply with locality requirements. How can Communication Service Providers take advantage of their physical location assets to delivery low latency and high bandwidth Edge services? This session will provide an overview of CommSP Edge planning framework with five inter-related topics: location, platforms, use cases, business models, and technology driven transformation.

Connecting the dots at the edge – An effective approach to MEC

A recent survey by Heavy Reading has indicated that more than 60% of panelists in the Thought Leadership Council view Edge Computing as critical, especially for use cases of real time IOT Analytics and real-time delivery of Live and On Demand Content. This could include Autonomous Vehicles, Gaming VR/AR, Mobile and Wearable Health / Telemedicine.

Network Transformation as the Path to 5G

Network Transformation as the Path to 5G

Network virtualization was started by service providers more than five years ago with the aim of becoming more agile and competitive. Technology has been improved since then and most of the providers have started the transformation journey. With 5G this initial goal of virtualizing the network has become more tangible than ever, but also the complexity that service providers will need to handle is expected to grow exponentially. Digital transformation of service providers is a must for being able to cope with the mentioned challenges and being successful with the deployment of 5G.

NetOps - the Key to Declarative Network Automation

NetOps - the Key to Declarative Network Automation

Network automation is not easy. The promise of SDN is fulfilled with better or worse success, requiring in most of the cases "rip & replace" approach. In order to be successful in network automation we need to apply the strategy which will consider existing installed base and new things which are coming now like NFV or will come in a future.

Why getting your network ready for NFV and 5G is all about the service orchestration automation

Why getting your network ready for NFV and 5G is all about the service orchestration automation

As operators move from traditional networks to software defined architectures, they’re realizing that multi-vendor and multi-domain orchestration and efficient operation of their networks play a really critical role in making this happen – not just when it comes to achieving the cost savings and revenue streams promised by NFV, but also for getting their network ready for 5G. Amdocs’ NFV expertise includes many industry firsts – from co-creator of ECOMP with AT&T, co-founder and platinum member of ONAP, and unmatched practical experience of real-world NFV deployments with early adopters, to the first purpose-built, cloud-native, carrier-grade NFV software and services packaged solution based on open-source.

In this session, Amdocs Head of NFV Oren Marmur focuses on the NFV service-orchestration layer, including VNF onboarding, service design, automation of service lifecycle, provisioning and closed loop assurance. He also shares different use cases of pioneering implementations, including SD-WAN domain orchestration (where one service provider improved operation efficiency by 70% thanks to service-orchestration automation) and end-to-end 5G network-slicing orchestration. From best practices to unique lessons being learned, this is a must-attend session for anyone involved in either building or implementing an NFV strategy.
