Intel® Select Fast Track Kit for NFVI

Intel® Select Fast Track Kit for NFVI

The Intel® Select Fast Track Kit for NFVI is a new Intel Network Builders initiative offering ecosystem partners and communications service providers a pathway to shorten their time to market for optimized solutions based on network functions virtualization infrastructure (NFVI).

Based on Intel's newest processor family—the Intel® Xeon® Processor Scalable family, which delivers increased scalability and enhanced performance for NFV applications—the kit is designed as a self-contained NFV infrastructure platform. The Intel Select Fast Track Kit for NFVI includes a hardened configuration of hardware, firmware, and software optimized for essential NFV workloads, performance characterization and optimization tools, a demo with traffic generator and workloads, installer, and user guide.

Intel® Select Fast Track Kit for NFVI's architectural and performance benefits:

Balanced NUMA connectivity: I/O is evenly distributed across two CPU sockets. Workloads running on both sockets can benefit from direct access to network (NICs), storage (NVMe* drives), and Intel® QuickAssist Technology (Intel® QAT) acceleration. High-throughput versatile network interface cards (NICs): two Intel® Ethernet Network Adapter XXV710-DA2 (dual 25 GbE) NICs per socket, four NICs in total, which gives aggregated theoretical throughput of up to 200 Gbps per server. Data-center grade storage using Intel® SSD Data Center Family for NVMe drives that deliver high capacity, high throughput along with high input/output operations per second (IOPS) and low latency at an affordable price. Intel QAT acceleration built in the chipset to improve performance and efficiency across the data center by accelerating compute-intensive encryption and compression operations, including:
Bulk cryptography: symmetric encryption and authentication, and cipher operations Public key cryptography: asymmetric encryption, digital signatures, and key exchange Compression: lossless data compression for data in flight and at rest

These tested, pre-integrated solutions provide developers with faster access to advanced platform configurations to speed availability of optimized NFV solutions and allow network architects to pull in test and modelling of solutions that will define next-generation network architectures.
