This document introduces the key idea of Generic Flow – a driver with learning mechanism, which can significantly reduce the effort to update the mapping between driver and hardware offloading API for new protocols. It also describes the workflow of Generic Flow in VPP, and the method to create Generic Flow rules to network adapter hardware with the VPP interface.
