The electricity distribution grid architecture consists of layers defined by the voltage level of the alternating current (AC) power system. High voltage is used to transfer power over distance efficiently (as high as 1MV or more), whereas power is delivered to consumers for factories, businesses, and residences at lower voltage levels (often tens of kV for manufacturing or less than 1kV for residences).
