Intel® and Ecosystem Collaboration Accelerate Network Transformation
Intel has a growing portfolio of solutions to help communications service providers transition to a cloud-ready communications network, including the Intel® Xeon® Processor D family that brings advanced performance and intelligence to the network edge.
In addition, we're actively growing partnerships across the industry to improve the transition. Our ecosystem collaborations are diverse, including 5G efforts with Verizon and joint development of standards-based solution blueprints with Red Hat. We are committed to paving the way for a seamless transition to the cloud-ready networks.
Hear Sandra Rivera, a Vice President of the Data Center Group and General Manager of the Network Platforms Group at Intel, along with speakers from Verizon and Cisco, share perspectives on how emerging digital trends and new technologies will reshape the networks of the future in this webcast.
Rivera also recently joined Light Reading to discuss the cloudification of the network, Intel's history and work in the networking space to date, and the Intel® Network Builders Fast Track. Read the interview here.
Welcome Our New Ecosystem Partners
We welcome the new companies that have recently joined our ecosystem of more than 180 partners. We're looking forward to great collaborations with Accenture, Casa Systems, and NFWare.
Carrier Network Virtualization Launches Its First Mobile Edge Computing Focus Day
MEC Focus Day launched this year as a new addition in the Carrier Network Virtualization (CNV) conference. MEC technology experts met with the goal of seizing opportunities to learn, network, and share ideas about the growth of Mobile Edge Computing.
Mobile network operators are quickly embracing MEC technology as a way to upgrade their network capabilities and increase their service offerings, all while improving the quality of experience (QoE) for their end users. As a result, worldwide industry standardization was an important topic of conversation at MEC Focus Day.
Caroline Chan, Director of Wireless Access Strategy and Technology in the Network Platforms Group at Intel, spoke about the importance of MEC and described some of the key use cases at MEC Focus Day 2015. Intel has been at the forefront of Mobile Edge Computing and is using its innovative technology to further advance the adoption of MEC as well as continuing to pave the path to 5G.

Intel® Ethernet Multi-host Controller FM10000 Family (Formerly Red Rock Canyon)
On November 9, Intel launched the Intel® Ethernet Multi-host Controller FM10000 family. It combines industry-proven Intel Ethernet Controller technology with advanced switch resources in a multi-host controller device. This controller is intended for high-density rack scale server platforms, and high-performance communications infrastructure applications. This new controller family supports 1/10/25 Gb Ethernet ports, and the ability to group four lanes as 40 GbE, or 100 GbE ports.
A New Option for Data Center Infrastructure: Intel® Xeon® Processor D Family
The Intel® Xeon® processor D-1500 product family brings the performance and advanced intelligence of Intel Xeon processors into a dense, lower-power system-on-a-chip. With enhanced reliability, availability, and serviceability features, platform storage extensions, and built-in hardware virtualization, the Intel Xeon processor D-1500 product family offers new options for optimizing a variety of workloads and infrastructure for lightweight hyperscale workloads, intelligent data center storage, and more.
Intel® Network Builders Fast Track Initiative Continues Its Momentum with First Solution Blueprint Presentation
As we close the year on our events calendar, the Intel® Network Builders program delivered its first presentation on a solution blueprint. Driving one of the Fast Track's main initiatives, solution integration, this solution blueprint can support the deployment of NFV use cases. Taking key learnings from several POCs and deployments, Intel is working to create solution blueprints for vCPE and vIMS use cases, with others to follow.
If you missed the presentation at Carrier Network Virtualization, stay tuned as the presentation will be available on the members' area of the Intel Network Builders' website.
Etisalat and Intel have signed a memorandum of understanding to help networks cope with the new era of NFV and SDN. Under the agreement, Intel will share knowledge and provide advice for competence build-up and assessment of NFV/SDN solutions to be deployed within the Etisalat network.
