Intel® Network Builders University Provides Introduction to Intel® Select Solutions for NFVI
This month, the Intel® Network Builders University adds to its library with an introduction to Intel® Select Solutions for NFVI (network functions virtualization infrastructure). In this short, engaging course, students will learn about the Intel Select Solutions for NFVI, including the value that they provide and the technical configurations.
The Intel Network Builders University has more than 100 courses available across four languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese). Check back with the university regularly to see the new educational content being added each month.
The online portion of the University is available to all Intel® Network Builders program members and the public through a simple registration here. Intel Network Builders University is one of three learning centers in Intel® Builders University, which also includes the Intel® Cloud Builders University and Intel® Storage Builders University. Registrants have access to all of the content in the three learning centers.
Please take a look, and after exploring the offerings let us know what content you would like to see added to the university.

This article describes the Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK) eventdev library. It shows you what functionality the eventdev library was designed for, and how your application can benefit from using the eventdev library.
As part of cloud native efforts, for the past year Intel has worked with partners and open source communities to address barriers to commercial containers-networking adoption. These efforts include the delivery of consumable capabilities, based on open source software, concerning configuration, data plane performance, manageability, and service assurance. Intel is enabling networking in Kubernetes,* and the work done has been captured in the containers bare metal experience kits, a set of collateral that enable and ease the adoption of new capabilities in commercial products.
The collection of all the experience kits creates a library of best practice guidelines to resolve containers-bare-metal networking development and challenges in deployment. The collaterals simply show and tell the problems solved and the value achieved. They consist of a reference architecture, benchmark reports, application notes, recorded demonstrations, and a variety of documents. We invite you to join in the efforts that Intel and the open source community are conducting to drive the enablement of commercial containers-based deployments.

Out of the Box Network Developers Meetup: Santa Clara, CA
At February's meetup, we'll celebrate the second birthday of the Out of the Box Network Developers Meetup group with cake and prizes. We'll introduce the Intel® Network Edge Virtualization SDK (Intel® NEV SDK). The Intel NEV SDK—the first kit of its kind—provides an NFV platform targeted for multi-access edge computing (MEC) applications and services.
MEC is an industry initiative to open up the radio access interface for services and applications in the radio access network. This location in the network edge offers an environment with low latency, high bandwidth, and direct access to radio information such as subscriber location. Due to the proximity of the mobile-edge server, responsiveness to applications and services is increased, improving the quality of experience.
Date: February 21
Location: Intel Campus, SC-9 Auditorium, Santa Clara, CA
Registration: Register here
Out of the Box Network Developers: Ireland
The Out of the Box Network Developers Ireland group will be co-hosting a meetup with London SDN & OpenDaylight* User in April.
The next DPDK Summit will be held on March 9 and 10, 2018, hosted by the Linux* Foundation and Intel in association Out of the Box Network Developers Bangalore. There is a DPDK hands-on lab on day 2. Check out the Out of the Box Network Developers Bangalore Meetup to learn more and register for the hands-on training.
