2019 – Driving Network Transformation through Shared Innovation
In 2018 we made significant progress in the transformation of communications network architectures, operations and processes. The dedication, innovation and inspiration of our Network Builders ecosystem partners made this possible through delivery of new technologies, reference architectures, use cases and ongoing contributions focused on advancing and maturing industry standards.
We have set a solid foundation through virtualization of the mobile core network, but our work is not done. 2019 is the year for Intel and its ecosystem partners to accelerate modernization of the network edge. These joint investments will support the roll out of 5G and edge services that will drive digital transformation, new services and business models across every vertical industry segment.
Intel Network Builders will continue to serve as a key forum for shared innovation and collaboration that will make this transformation a reality. We share a track record of similar successes with you and are excited to build on that history by distilling our shared best practices in the following areas:
– Focused investment in the innovators that will drive the next wave of edge services;
– Accelerate the development and delivery of these solutions to market through new technical education, benchmarking and co-marketing opportunities;
– Joint-engagements with Partners, Communication Service Providers and Enterprises to deliver innovative edge services on market-ready solutions that are faster and easier to deploy.
We are excited for what 2019 holds for our ecosystem and the industry. I look forward to seeing you and Network Builders Summits, industry conferences and other engagements throughout the year. Please feel free to engage on Twitter @ChandreshR01

Intel® Network Builders University Introduces New Visual Cloud Courseware:
More visual content is being delivered via cloud computing every day including live streaming video and new immersive experiences like virtual reality. These new user experiences require new architectures and technologies as well as ubiquitous broadband connectivity between connected devices, the network edge and cloud data centers. The two new courses in the Intel Network Builders University will provide insights into this topic area.
The newest courses:
Visual Cloud Introduction: Opening a World of Visual Innovation: provides an overview of the visual cloud market, industry trends and design principles. This course also examines how Intel helps meet the growing demands for visual cloud workloads by enabling hardware and software solutions for video delivery, cloud graphics, and media analytics.
Accelerated Growth of the Visual Cloud through Open Sourcing Scalable Video Technology (SVT) Video Encoders: This course will delve into the features and architecture of scalable video technology (SVT), SVT encoders, high efficiency video coding (HEVC) and using a human visual system (HVS) optimized classifier. This course will also discuss the real time performance on Intel® Xeon® based processors.
There are more than 125 courses available across five languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese & Korean), with new content released each month. The online portion of the university is available to all Intel® Network Builders program members and the public through a simple registration here. Intel Network Builders University is one of two learning centers in Intel® Builders University, which also includes the Intel® Data Center Builders University. Registrants have access to all of the content in the two learning centers.
Please take a look and after exploring the offerings, let us know what content you would like to see added to the university.
